When I told you there’s nothing better than a sigh!
However, sighing at work after a period of concentration is not always well received. Some people think you’re asleep, others ask you what’s wrong, but encouragement is rare, even though sighing is an instinctive bodily reaction to supply the brain and body with oxygen. In fact, sighing wakes you up.
Fortunately, science comes to our rescue. Researchers at the Swiss Institute of Technology in Zurich have discovered that the surfactant fluid that acts on the surface of the lungs is stimulated when we breathe deeply or sigh. Good fluid circulation reduces tissue resistance, softens it, and thus increases its ability to absorb oxygen. In general, this makes breathing easier.
We can now scientifically explain why we feel more relaxed and rejuvenated after a good sigh or two!
And once again, we realize how much the Reiki method addresses the essential by offering the Haaado breathing technique: a long exhalation through the slightly open mouth while listening attentively to the haaaa sound produced by our breath as it leaves us. Very important: do not force the exhalation, but rather accompany it consciously, with patience and great kindness, waiting until the lungs are completely empty and welcoming the sensation of falling within oneself.
Then, quite naturally, the moment to inhale arrives, and we do so through the nose. This technique is very simple; it frees the natural rhythm of our breathing and regenerates the body and mind!
Isn’t that what we call sighing?
